Guitar Hero World Tour is the newest title off of the hit musical game series that produced the record-breaking GH3: Legends of Rock. The success of this series proves that there is a large market for this genre. Plus a few additions and improvements done on Guitar Hero WT, Activision could be introducing what could potentially be another fan favorite.
The biggest feature of Guitar Hero World Tour is the enhancement of its instruments and the inclusion of the music creator. Hence, it realizes your ultimate rock star fantasies by giving you more control on how you play this game.
Apart from the titular instrument, expect to get vocals and drum peripherals to go along with Guitar Hero World Tour. But the guitar still takes on the lead role with some major enhancements done for a better musical experience.
The guitar's neck is now equipped with a sensitive strip that can alter notes with just a touch of the strip. Meanwhile, you can easily access the buttons to change settings or switch to star power. Although Guitar Hero WT now have drums included in the set, it is not as noisy as you expect it to be. However, it works quite realistic and the sound varies according to the impact and speed of the hit.
With Guitar Hero World Tour, its customization feature is probably one that allows you to personalize your approach into this game. Aside from the real rock stars in the roster, you can opt to make your own rock star or have a virtual rock star version of yourself. In terms of customization, it can range from the facial features, to the style, the genre, and the overall look itself. The same customization feature is also evident when it comes to the instruments so it matches the overall musical personality you're trying to create.
Probably the biggest aspect of a game like Guitar Hero World Tour is the music. Expect to have a rockin' good time with a tracklist that includes such bands as Linkin Park, Van Halen, Sublime, and Foo Fighters. For the gameplay elements, you can adjust the words according to the horizontal bar and the instruments based on the vertical scroll you see on-screen.
Aside from the bands mentioned to appear in the lineup, expect downloadable songs to arrive soon after the game's release or you can make your own through the music creator. A wizard will help walk you through using the music creator to make your own tracks so you can submit it for other fellow gamers to download.
Other gameplay elements included in Guitar Hero WT include a maximum of five careers to choose from and a non-linear difficulty progression that suits everyone. For starters to this game, you can practice your guitar and music skills through the new beginner difficulty.
Activision is still mum about the pricing but expect it to be quite "competitive" with what else is in the market.
