Guitar Hero World Tour is the newest title off of the hit musical game series that produced the record-breaking GH3: Legends of Rock. The success of this series proves that there is a large market for this genre. Plus a few additions and improvements done on Guitar Hero WT, Activision could be introducing what could potentially be another fan favorite.

The biggest feature of Guitar Hero World Tour is the enhancement of its instruments and the inclusion of the music creator. Hence, it realizes your ultimate rock star fantasies by giving you more control on how you play this game.

Learning through the use of guitar books is the most common and amongst the thousands of books available there are some very good ones. Using books doesn't have the highest of success rates as many simply do not have the patience to keep going when they encounter a slight problem but for those who do have a patient side it maybe an option.

Learning to play the guitar by ear is another method of learning the guitar and it can be far more satisfying and enjoyable than any other way of learning guitar. There is no question that this method isn't for everyone but give it a go and you may surprise yourself.

Having private guitar lessons from a personal tutor is another method of learning to play the guitar and without taking anything else into consideration this is the best way to learn guitar. However with things such as price and time taken into account it may not be the best method for everyone.

The last way you can learn to play guitar is also probably the best if you cannot afford a private teacher. Videos are fantastic as you can see exactly what it is you should be doing in a step by step way. Although books can explain these methods it just isn't the same as actually seeing it.

The best way to learn guitar ultimately boils down to personal preference but the methods which have the highest rates of success are using a private tutor or videos. If you have the cash then the tutor is probably the best of all but for the majority video would be the way to go.

Music Schools V.S Private Tutors – Guitar Lessons

Its most likely your love of guitar music that has led you to want to take guitar lessons. This is a good thing, because in the end it will allow you to not only to enjoy the music but express yourself as well. First of all take your time. Presumably you already have your guitar, so you know which you are going to learn on, acoustic or electric. You need to pick your type of instruction based on which instrument you are using. That doesn't mean to say that you can only learn to play one or the other because you most certainly will be able to play either after your guitar lessons.

You now need to decide whether you are going to take a home course or go to a music academy and opt for private or group guitar lessons. There are some things you need to consider before making that choice. In order to do that you need to have some general knowledge to base you decisions on. Here are some things you are going to want to know.

Lets assume you are going to take a look at what the music academies have to offer.

1. Do you have to purchase your guitar through them, or can you bring your own guitar?
Some academies are actually off springs of music stores. They will offer lessons but only if its with their equipment that you have purchased from them.

2.Do they have group lessons, and if so how many to a group?
If you are comfortable in a group setting. This may be a good option for you. Usually group guitar lessons are less expensive than private ones.

3. How many hours of lessons a week does the course offer? If you are only going to get a 1./2 hour per week, and its in a group setting then you are not likely to get much time, if any with the instructor. You may be further ahead to take a home study course. If you find out that they have a few options regarding time, there may be something there that will work for you. For example if they offer 2 hours per week. One option may be to do 1hour on Tuesday and perhaps another hour on Thursday. Then the second option may be a full 2 hours on Wednesday. This is a fairly flexible schedule for you to choose from.

4. How long is the course. If you are only get 10 hours total of instruction for the course is this going to be enough for you? Also do they offer different levels? For example do they beginners, intermediate and advanced levels?

5. What do they have to offer by way of private lessons?
You may be more comfortable with this option and feel that you will get more from it.

6. Finally what is the cost of the course? Are there payment plans? And what is the background of the instructors?

No doubt you will think of a few other questions that pertain to your personal needs. Don't be afraid to ask them before you sign any agreement.

What You Must Ask Yourself Before Taking Guitar Lessons

First of all you must enjoy the guitar if you are considering taking guitar lessons. Secondly, don't be deceived into thinking you are just going to pick up a guitar and within a few hours you going to be strumming out the perfect tune. It won't work quite that way.

Now if you have decided you are going to take lessons then obviously you are going to need something to learn on right? Its probably not a good idea to run out and buy the most expensive guitar that you can at this point. Also it really isn't necessary either. You will learn quite nicely on a sensibly priced guitar. Once you are well into your lessons and know for sure you are going to stick with it then you may want to consider a little higher priced better sounding one. Often individuals taking guitar lessons figure that if they buy a higher priced one that they are going to learn faster. That is not true.

Then there is the decision between learning to play on acoustic or electric. Many people believe that if you take guitar lessons on one, then you have to start all over again if you choose to play the other. This is not factual, but an electric guitar is considered by most guitarists to be the easiest to play, so therefore easier to learn on.. The main difference between the acoustic and electric guitar simply comes down to amplification. An electric guitar needs an amplifier. For this reason they are far more expensive. Not only do you have the cost of the guitar, but you have to buy the amplifier as well. You will have noticed that the electric guitars are much thinner and have a different variety of shapes. Acoustic ones are much thicker and more limited in shape. It's the size and shape that primarily makes the difference in the sound that the guitar will produce.

Another point to keep in mind is that with the electric guitar you are more limited as to the types of music you can play on it, so if you are really serious about learning then you may want to consider the acoustic to learn on and start out with.

Then there will a matter of choosing the types of strings that you are going to put on your guitar. It may be steel, or nylon for example, and each will give you a different sound. These are things that you can discuss with your instructor. You will be in a position to make this choice now that you know what type of guitar you are going to be learning on.

Next you will need to decide whether you are going to take a home course, or an online course for that matter. Of course you have the choice of also signing up for guitar lessons at one of the local music academies. Both of these options have advantages and disadvantages. One of the major factors will be your time constraints. Learning at home gives you more flexibility. Learning at an academy allows you the feedback of the instructor.

How Blues Jam Tracks Will Transform Your Guitar Playing
